Stepping into 2019 – What’s Moving You?

Hope the Brazilian Samba in the video moved you!

But that’s not it.

For me, there is more…

It’s feminist freedom – the freedom in feminist storytelling – that has moved me across borders, literally and metaphorically, in the last 2.5 months.

I just came back from a 10-week journey with my carry-on luggage across India and Portugal – yes, I travel light! But that has enabled me to rush to multiple locations that needed my activist voice.

Was it easy?

NO!

If you have followed my Instagram, I was in high-risk situations day and night but stood firm as a woman. And I am so incredibly proud of the kind men and woman who supported me out of serendipity.

One of the most unforgettable moments was my invitation to offer a guest lecture on celebrity activism at the University of Mumbai this Fall. Special thanks to professor and filmmaker Dr. Daivata Patil. I also had a memorable conversation with actor Dr. Kabir Bedi over an interview on journalism education, tabloid journalism, and fashion activism. My discussions with actress and activist Jyoti Singh for Celebrity Chat carries much social worth as well – will share in the coming months.

For now, I will end the year with a warm invitation to 2019 – you are most welcome to join me at the 48th American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) conference at the Marriot in Lower Manhattan on May 6!
