I am pleased to update that Yahoo! Entertainment shared my thoughts on why fans are reaching for Aretha Franklin’s music more than ever – you can read here now: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/heres-scientific-reason-youre-reaching-aretha-franklin-music-right-now-172218489.html. Special thanks to Raechal Leone Shewfelt for the interview.

In addition, I accepted an offer to be a co-editor of a book on glamour and fashion and finished the first draft of my feminist novel – 216 pages so far. Yeay! I thought the 2nd draft would be easy to simply update – after all, the bulk of the manuscript is done, right? But editing is slow and intense. I guess that’s part of the writing process where certain parts need more attention.

During my breaks, I am reading I’m Famous in South Africa – so honoured and touched to receive this special publication from author and producer Nicky Greenwall. It is now part of the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies collection (below). I highly recommend this beautiful book that starts with her personal experience in relation to Brad Pitt. In her eloquent words, she writes how she was able to see him as a human being in the middle of a paparazzi star and not as an object that other journalists ran for. That ability to have an human awakening was magical and it changed her life. This human element in artists is much needed to fill gaps among fans that run after fame, especially at the cost of distancing family that may also have shining stars.

In efforts to bridge gaps, I will be co-hosting a live webinar on Saturday, September 1 and looking forward to connecting with friends and colleagues again. Register and join https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/sustainability-persona-branding-webinar-tickets-48582241793 – we would love to hear from you there!

Have a lovely start to the week and keep sharing your memorable moments with us.

Every moment counts.
