Cross-posted: Edition 97 CMCS Media & Festival – Aug 30

Hope August started well! I am pleased to update that views from the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS) on former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry have been covered on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Radio. My guest, David Frasser, a privacy lawyer, and I were invited to contribute our ethical views about the public figures to the CBC live show Alberta at Noon on August 7: https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-1-alberta-at-noon/clip/16162549-is-anything-private-public-figure on. Additionally, CMCS has been featured on the local news, BlogTO, for its upcoming film festival, scheduled for August 30! 2025 CMCS Finalists & guests from Eventbrite can participate in a celebratory nut-free vegan potluck party (Suite 305) after final CMCS award nominations and Q/A at the festival (Suite 308) on the 30th. Guests will also have the exciting chance to win raffle prizes—$5 for 1 ticket or $10 for 3 tickets. Vouchers for the potluck participants and tickets for the raffle prizes will be available at our door on the 3rd floor. All proceeds go to our host, Wishbone AR Lab, to support their efforts for all species, the environment, and climate justice. Wishbone is located at 600 Bay St. (in between Roywoods and the former Coach Canada Terminal, across Dundas St.) in downtown Toronto. Please note that our venue is located in an old, charitable building with a vintage elevator. All attendees can press the doorbell or call +16479045285 for entry. Here is a glimpse of our film programme, featuring CMCS Finalists, selected for screenings in Toronto:
