Celebrating Shining Talent

Dear Readers,

Last month brought precious memories that I am carrying in my journey of writing and fierce celebration of love this month.   First of all, I was honoured to be a part of Building Bridges Association of Canada and industry leaders. Organized by Ashima Suri and Erica Armstrong at Toronto’s House of Moments, the event celebrated meaningful employment, true inclusion, and diverse communications. The event demonstrated living examples of shining on individual paths with different and unique abilities.  My special thanks goes to Amitha Jocie Mundenchira for the photo below.

The following week, I attended the second event held by Building Bridges Association of Canada.  The event had the exclusive presence of Karen King, the first Black woman to produce a movie in Toronto and holds 9 years of experience as Network Executive for Global Television and Quebecor.  The following photograph was taken with beautiful friend, author, and speaker Lynn Manwar (top) and artist Anu Vittal (below) at the event.  I was grateful to be invited as an industry leader again and share key elements of celebrity culture and empowerment of talent.

Saturday, April 26 was a much awaited day.  My friend and Social Media Manager, Christine Bode came all the way from Kingston to attend Jon Davis’ CD launch in downtown Toronto!  Currently, Jon is on a cross-Canada music tour and developing a huge fan base for his down-to-earth personality and touching music.  His lyrics “If we can destroy the need to succeed then we can really live in the moment” were powerful and beautiful for all rising talent!

The following night was friend and filmmaker Liz Marshall and photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur’s world premiere of The Ghosts in Our Machines at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival.  The film received excellent media coverage and #2 on the top 20 list for the Hot Docs Audience Award!

Earlier that day, I walked into the Art Gallery of Mississauga with Camilla Pagila’s Sexual Personae: Art & Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson today!  The gallery hosted a lovely Artist Soirée.  It was a pleasure to meet incredible artists there and share critical reflections on images in art history and contemporary art representations in fame-based practices.  The photo below was taken along with the book at the gallery.  Thanks to artist, activist, and friend Caitlin Black for recommending the book – I picked it up at Mississauga Central Library before attending the gallery event!

That’s all for now loved ones!  As I continue to work on my book publications on stardom, dance performance, and the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS), I will post more updates and questions on fame with an aesthetic and spiritual edge this month!  The goal of the publications and posts is to maximize talent with fearless love for all.
